Candida albicans is a type of yeast that normally lives in the human body, particularly in the mouth, gut, and vagina. In healthy individuals, candida does not usually cause any harm. However, in certain situations, yeast overgrowth can occur, leading to a condition called candidiasis. Here are some potential reasons why you might consider doing our self exam for yeast overgrowth:

  1. Symptoms of candidiasis: Candidiasis can cause a wide range of symptoms, including fatigue, brain fog, digestive problems, skin rashes, and vaginal infections. If you are experiencing symptoms that could be related to candidiasis, testing for candida albicans can help to confirm or rule out the condition as the cause of your symptoms.

Keep in mind that yeast overgrowth is not always the cause of symptoms or infections, and there are many other factors that can contribute to these conditions.
  2. Chronic or recurring infections: If you are experiencing chronic or recurring yeast infections or other types of fungal infections, testing for yeast overgrowth can help to identify the underlying cause of the infections.
  3. Immunocompromised individuals: People with weakened immune systems, such as those with autoimmune disorders or undergoing chemotherapy, are at higher risk for developing a yeast overgrowth.
  4. Nutritional deficiencies: Yeast overgrowth can sometimes cause nutrient deficiencies, particularly in vitamins and minerals that are important for immune function.

If you’re unsure of needing a yeast cleanse, doing if for preventative health can be beneficial too. For the best results follow a yeast elimination diet, such as Phase One Food Plan during and after the cleanse (a minimum of 30 days).
